What we are aiming for

Every page here should work with a keyboard alone, with a screen reader, at 200% zoom, and with the motion turned off. That is the bar we hold ourselves to, and we check it on every build rather than once a year.

The standard we work to

We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.1, Level AA, and this statement is prepared in the spirit of the Information and Communications Standard under Ontario’s accessibility regulation. We are a small Ontario company and we treat that standard as the floor rather than the ceiling.

The standard is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. This statement is prepared in the spirit of the Information and Communications Standard of the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (O. Reg. 191/11) made under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005.

Conformance is measured on the pages this site actually publishes, not on a design file: an automated audit opens every page template at 1440 px and at 390 px, and again with the mobile menu open, and the build fails on any serious or critical finding that is not written down with a named owner.

What we have done

Some of this is design work and some of it is plumbing. All of it is checked automatically, on every build, and a page that fails does not ship.

  • Keyboard, end to end. Every control on the site can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, in a visible order, with a focus ring you can see. A skip link at the top of every page jumps straight to the main content.
  • Structure a screen reader can navigate. One heading per level in order, named landmarks, a labelled navigation menu, and, on every page the menu leads to, a current-page marker in both the desktop bar and the phone menu. Pages the menu does not list, such as this one, mark nothing rather than point at the wrong tab.
  • Text you can read. Body text meets the 4.5:1 contrast ratio and larger text meets 3:1, measured on the built pages rather than assumed from the palette. Nothing is fixed to a pixel size, so the site reflows at 200% zoom without a horizontal scrollbar.
  • Motion that stops when you ask it to. If your system is set to reduce motion, every animation on this site parks on a still frame, including the two drawings on the home page and the logo band.
  • Charts that are not only pictures. Every chart on the demo dashboard ships the figures behind it as text for assistive technology, and the readings can be stepped through with the arrow keys.
  • High contrast and forced colours. The site answers bothprefers-contrast and Windows High Contrast, so buttons, cards and fields keep visible edges when the browser replaces our palette with yours.
  • Nothing needs JavaScript to read. Every page is server-rendered static HTML. The tools that need script say so, and the content underneath them does not.

What is not there yet

Three things on this site are not fully accessible today. We would rather say so here than have you find them.

Dashboard charts carry a summary, not a full data table
The charts on the demo dashboard publish their figures as text for a screen reader, but not yet as a complete, navigable table with row and column headers. If you want the underlying numbers, ask us and we will send them.
Two things on this site are somebody else’s software
Client Login opens our monitoring platform, and booking a site visit opens a third-party calendar. We do not control the accessibility of either. You can always book by phone or email instead, and you will get the same visit.
The meter guide downloads are data files
The comparison tables in the meter guides can be downloaded as CSV. A CSV is a data file rather than a formatted document, so it has no headings or reading order of its own. Everything in it is also on the page, in a table with proper headers.

This statement was last reviewed on September 5, 2026, against a full automated audit of every page template and a manual pass with a keyboard. We review it whenever the site changes materially, and the automated part of it runs on every build in between.
